About Keltsey
I was born and raised in Layton, Utah where my love of teaching began to develop as a dance instructor to children of all ages. I graduated from Clearfield High School in 2008 and was the Sterling Scholar in Family and Consumer Sciences. I received the Teacher Recruitment Scholarship, a full ride scholarship paid for by Davis School District, Salt Lake Community College, and the University of Utah. This scholarship has aided me in my dream to pursue a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Utah. I was accepted into the Elementary Education program in April 2013, and I have recently finished my student teaching at M. Lynn Bennion Elementary in Salt Lake School District. I also just recieved the Outstanding Senior Award, given by the dean of the College of Education.
As a future educator my greatest goal is to make a difference. As we progress into the 21 century, children will become one of our most valuable assets. The quality of the education that children receive will determine our future. Quality teachers who understand and have the ability to teach will be instrumental in the quality of our life, and society moving forward. That is why I have the desire to become a teacher. A line from one of my favorite poems sums it up. “I MAKE A DIFFERENCE. What do you make?”
